Coleman Party Stacker Cooler Review

Last Updated by Brandon F. on October 12, 2022

Coleman Party Stacker iceboxes are unique in that they are specially designed to interlock with the bases of other Party Stacker coolers, which can help with organization and save space.  The thin design means that it can easily be put in many seats as well.  It doesn’t have attached handles but rather they are molded directly onto the side of the cooler.   It is available in a host of colors and in 20, 24, and 48 cans (aka 18, 25, and 33-quart sizes) and is made of plastic.

Insulation ability – 2 star

The low profile nature coupled with the very thin plastic walls means that these products struggle quite a bit with maintaining the ice.  Expect to have to top it off with ice as often as every 3 to 4 hours depending on usage.  Depending on how many people are using the cooler this might not be a big deal but it is kind of frustrating having to deal with this in the 33-quart size, which is oftentimes considered a decently large cooler that could hold a lot of items.  You may find that the combination of less-than-stellar ice retention with limited storage is a negative aspect.

Mobility and durability – 3 star

What this excels at is mobility.  Despite not having wheels, you will easily be able to transport these coolers from place to place.  It is extremely light (weighing in at around 6 pounds empty) and even full it is small enough to carry around.  And obviously, the big selling point is its ability to securely fasten to other Party Stackers.  The one issue is that there are no auxiliary handles on the two larger sizes.  Instead, they are simply molded into the side of the container.

These can get somewhat slick and it can be hard to get as good of a grip on them as you can with a conventional strapped handle, especially on the 33-quart size.  They are relatively durable but it needs to be stressed that they are quite thin so don’t be surprised if after a few seasons of constant use that there might be some denting which could potentially open up some leak paths.

Visual Appeal – 2.5 star

There are multiple colors of all sizes which is a nice touch.  Beyond that, there isn’t a whole lot to these.  Since they are expected to attach and also be able to be put in small areas there aren’t any outside features or handles which could get in the way of its functionality.  Although there are no well-placed cup holders, the top does have a lip which means you could place something on top of it as long as there isn’t a lot of movement.  Some people may find this feature visually unappealing.

Cost – 3.5 star

Online prices for these coolers will typically place them in the budget price tier.  This is a great asking price and should fall within just about everybody’s budget for a new cooler.

Overall Rating – 2.5 star

This is a unique design that is great for small, short gatherings and for locations that normally couldn’t fit a cooler.  The main selling point here is in the convenience of the Party Stacker lineup.  However, it comes at the cost of very poor insulation so be ready to top off with ice constantly.  The price is quite reasonable though so can’t be overly picky.
