The Dalix Cooler Bag is a portable lunch solution from Dalix for those needing to keep their lunch of short picnic items cool. For storage, it has a top-opening insulated compartment that is intended to store perishable items. This compartment is framed with metal to help with rigidity so that it keeps its shape. Also, there is a front zipper section where you can store additional items. There are two carrying apparatuses: a side shoulder strap and an overhead handle. This product comes in blue and red, comes in approximately 6.5 and 26-quart options, and is made of polyester, plastic, and metal.
Insulation ability –
The cooling ability is a little disappointing. The insulation, while present, is simply too thin and the result is too much cold air escaping too easily. Also, the zipper isn’t very sealed so plenty of air can exchange across it. Overall you can expect the cool time of this product to be around 4 hours or so.
Mobility and durability –
For a lunch-oriented bag, the 6.5-quart option is a bit small and the 26-quart choice is surprisingly large. This means that it should be able to adequately handle even the most robust lunch and should be able to tackle or picnic for a small group as well in the larger size, but the 6.5-quart option may only handle a single person’s requirements if that. We do like that there is both a shoulder strap as well as a handle for carrying. The additional non-insulated front storage pocket is helpful as well. Our biggest gripe is the construction. You can tell that some shortcuts were taken to reduce costs. The strap is notorious for breaking when you begin to load up the bag with items, and the polyester is prone to tearing on both the inside as well as the outside of the enclosure.
Visual Appeal –
While there are two color options (blue and red), a majority of the bag is black in both cases, so if you are looking for a more vivid or bright bag then this one won’t do the trick. Even with the colored accents, the overall design is pretty mundane. However, Dalix can incorporate the shoulder strap and handle it pretty fluidly.
Cost –
Online these bags are typically in the high budget to low intermediate price tiers. This is a very reasonable price, particularly considering that since these are on the smaller side, the overall price will be very fair. And the performance at this price point is about where you would expect it to be.
Overall Rating –
Unfortunately, this product has several issues, the biggest of which are based on the subpar ice life and the shoddy construction. The price, while somewhat affordable, is still too much for what you are getting with this item.
