Dalix Cooler Tote Bag Review

Last Updated by Brandon F. on October 6, 2022

The Dalix Cooler Tote Bag attempts to solve the dilemma many have where they need ample storage space for their cold items while doing this in a portable and lightweight vessel.  This is a very straightforward design, where a vast majority of the volume comes via the large zipper enclosure that is accessed from the top.  However, there is an additional front pocket for non-chilled items.  Carrying is accomplished via top handles that come together from both sides.  This product comes in black, stores around 60 quarts of volume, and is made of polyester, plastic, and metal.

Insulation ability – 1.5 star

Despite having a sizeable storage area, it doesn’t do a great job of keeping items cold for a long period.  This is a common issue in smaller bags, but since this one is comparatively large we were hoping for more.  Also, if you decide to include ice or ice packs you need to anticipate the melted water leaking through the lining.  So you have to decide between a slight increase in cooling life and dealing with a wet mess.  You can expect items to stay cold long enough for a typical picnic, lunch outing, or for transporting items from the store to home but not much beyond that.

Mobility and durability – 2 star

This tote bag is huge and will be more than enough (and for many, perhaps TOO much) for typical applications.  You can reasonably fill it with enough items for an entire family’s meal or a large group’s drink and snack requirements.  As mentioned above the liner is not waterproof so adding ice or exposing it to water could make things quite messy and potentially ruin items that shouldn’t be exposed to water.  In regards to build quality, the plastic lining is a bit weak and can be prone to tearing and the shoulder strap can struggle to stay together if you fill-up the big relatively full since it will become quite heavy.  There is a relatively small additional storage pocket but we do wish there were a few more features to go with this.

Visual Appeal – 1.5 star

This product is very plain looking, and there aren’t even color variations to spice things up.  You are essentially getting a large black bag that has no patterns or aesthetic features.  While this might not be a big deal to many, there are many better-looking tote bags out there.  And since a tote bag such as this is often carried on one’s person, styling is important to some.

Cost – 5 star

This bag is deep into the budget tier.  This is an excellent price.  Although, it is important to remember that this product is essentially just a slightly insulated bag.

Overall Rating – 2 star

All this bag has to go for is its size and price.  However, these two things are enough to justify a purchase, as everything else about its struggles.  Essentially non-existent insulation, play styling, and lack of waterproofness make it more of a headache than it is worth.
