This is our Igloo Hard Liner Cooler Review. The Igloo Hard Liner Cooler has gone through some recent improvements. These include an updated external design as well as removable hard plastic liners that have molded-in ice slots. Also, the standard front slip pocket and adjustable shoulder strap come with it. It is available in several colors, comes in 6, 12, and 24 can varieties (around 9 to 25 quarts), and is made of plastic and fabric.
Insulation Ability –
Despite being a soft top with a zip-up lid that isn’t air-tight, this cooler does a pretty good job of keeping items cold. With the inclusion of the optional ice packs inserted into the slots, it bumps up the cooling performance quite a bit more and one can expect this to be able to perform for a full day before needing to refill with ice or nice ice packets. That being said, the insulation lining is relatively thin which keeps it from lasting even longer. You will be limited to around a day or maybe two days of ice retention if you go with the largest model. For people just looking to store a few items for a day, this should suffice. But for people after a longer duration, you may want to go with a different ice chest.
Mobility and Durability –
The entire cooler is easily collapsible and does not take up a lot of space. When full, it is still relatively light and easily carried via the strap. It would have been nice to have an additional handle for those times you didn’t want to carry it on your shoulder but this is a minor complaint, especially since the strap is adjustable. Build quality is on point and there are no glaring weaknesses.
Visual Appeal –
The actual shape of the hardliner cooler is pretty tame, but there is a host of color schemes available. One of the most popular is the camouflage layout. We must admit that the strap, despite working fine, looks somewhat flimsy and many options don’t have the grip which cheapens things up a bit.
Cost –
This product will fall somewhere in the budget to the intermediate range. This is about average for soft-sided coolers of this size. It should fall within everybody’s budget but don’t expect eye-popping performance or features at this price.
Overall Rating –
The Igloo Hard Liner Cooler Review receives 3 coolers out of 5. This product performs surprisingly well despite its assumed limitations of being a loose soft-top that is relatively small. The build quality and portability are more than acceptable as well. The visual department could have a bit of a boost but it is not a deal-breaker, and we would recommend this to someone looking for a simple, mobile cooler. There are no glaring issues with this product but nothing jumps out at us, either.
