Igloo Ice Cube Cooler Review
This is our Igloo Ice Cube Cooler Review. The Igloo Ice Cube coolers are unique in that they are first cube-shaped cooler on the market. This specialized shape results in an ergonomically easier carry since your arms are closer to your body while holding the ice chest. In addition, it has 4 built-in handles on each side along with 2 conventional carrying handles as well. It also has to molded cup holders on the lid. It is available in a host of colors and even team colors and for sizes it comes in a 14 can personal, 48 quart, and 60 quart, as well as 60 quart conventional and marine wheeled as finally as a 70 quart wheeled. It has made of primarily hard plastic.
Insulation ability –
The larger sizes of these coolers are stated to last for up to 5 days before the ice melts. In our experience, this is a bit of an overshoot. Expect ice to last for 2 to 3 days with regular use in the summer, which is still plenty of time for a weekend excursion. Overall the lid does a decent job of sealing and we suspect the unique extra-deep cavity also plays a part in keeping the ice from melting as quickly.
Mobility and durability –
The real shining point of these coolers is the mobility. The unique cubed design coupled with the 4-way handles as well as conventional handles on both the wheeled and non-wheeled examples means not only is the cooler easier to grab on to since you can keep it close to your chest but that there are plenty of different ways to carry the cooler, minimizing awkward and uncomfortable moving positions. The chest itself is well made and the lid should hold up to quite a bit of abuse. The wheels (if available) are strong and sturdy. The one minor weak point is in the handle, which has been prone to occasionally break off, especially in the wheeled examples. However, this is a minor complaint in what is otherwise a solid offering.
Visual Appeal –
The unique shape of the cooler definitely stands out. There are also tons of different options in colors and team logos that are available directly from Igloo which means that you are likely to be able to find the look the best suits you. They do a good job of making all of the handles and cup holders look presentable as well.
Online prices for these coolers put them firmly in the budget tier.
Overall Rating –
The Igloo Ice Cube Cooler Review receives 4.5 coolers out of 5. In summary, this is a solid cooler all around, and we definitely enjoyed the improved ergonomic design. While it will likely not make it to the 5 day mark for cooling ability, it still is good enough and at a price point to warrant a weekend trip with it. It also well-constructed apart from the minor handle issue and the great choice of colors and styles makes it a recommended buy from us.
