This is our Igloo Legend Cooler Review.  The Igloo Legend cooler is another traditional Igloo Cooler that opts for simplicity over aesthetics. It is shaped so that it is easily stacked and stored and doesn’t take up a lot of space.  It contains Ultratherm insulation to help keep things chilly.  Handy features include a reversible lid that turns into a tray and cup holder and an integrated bale handle that allows for easy carrying and storage.  It is available in several colors, in 6 can, 12 can, and 24 can sizes (around 9 to 30 quarts), and is made of plastic.

Insulation Ability –

Despite its simple demeanor, this product is quite good at keeping things cold, even considering its relatively small size.  The combination of a good lid seal and the Ultratherm insulation results in an ice chest that can keep ice mostly frozen for 2 to 3 days, even in the summer.  This is good for the price point and simplicity of this design.  The insulated walls are thicker than you might think and while that may eat up a bit of the potential storage volume, your ice will thank you.

Mobility and Durability –

Being a relatively small and lightweight cooler, carrying the Igloo Legend around is quite simple.  The bale handle is large enough to easily hold and we don’t see the need for side handles for a cooler this size so it is more than enough.  The fact that you can then tuck them away, stack them, or stick them in tight spaces is a great feature.  This is another great cooler for storing a 6 pack for a day at the ballpark.  We love these smell coolers that can maximize storage without taking up a lot of space.

Also, the fact that the lid can convert into a tray and cup holder is quite handy and will further reduce how many auxiliary items you have to take on your next picnic or outdoor get-together.  The cooler overall is decently tough except for the occasionally broken handle.  And as long as you are careful with it, the handle issue shouldn’t affect you.

Visual Appeal – 

There is very little going on aesthetically with this product.  There are a few different colors but beyond some subtle horizontal grooves near the bottom, it more or less looks like a simple box.  While looks don’t play a part in the considerations some make when shopping for a cooler, we do still like to see an attractive product and this is a bit too simple for our tastes.  Also, color choices are quite limited.  You will only be able to choose between red and blue.  We wish that Igloo would spruce up the design some and it would make this cooler a homerun purchase.

Cost – 

Online this ice chest falls squarely into the budget tier.  This is a very reasonable price considering the good ice performance you will enjoy.  It is also plenty well made and should last for multiple years without issues.  This is pretty normal for Igloo but this particular model even stands out more in the price department relative to build quality.  For those with a restricted budget, you get the opportunity to get a proven, solid cooler at a very nice price point.

Overall Rating – 

The Igloo Legend Cooler Review earns 3.5 out of 5 coolers.  This is a simple, modular, and relatively effective cooler that can be had for a reasonable price.  It won’t win any beauty contests but its effective design and helpful key features make it a buy for anybody looking for a space-saving and simple cooling solution for a small outing.  Ice performance is surprisingly impressive and the build quality is, for the most part, to a high standard.  We recommend this cooler for people on a tight budget who are not looking for an enormous cooler.
