Picnic at Ascot Collapsible Basket Cooler Review

Last Updated by Brandon F. on July 17, 2020

This is our Picnic at Ascot Collapsible Basket Cooler Review.  The Picnic at Ascot Collapsible Basket Cooler attempts to incorporate the effective cooling ability of a traditional cooler with the portability and ease of use of a soft collapsible cooler.  The walls are lined with thermal shield insulation to help maximize ice life.

To help with rigidity the frame is made of lightweight aluminum to go along with the aluminum pivoted handles to help with carrying.  There is a front pouch for items that don’t need to be kept cool as well.  This product is available in a wide variety of shapes and patterns, is made of a combination of fabric, plastic, and metal and stores approximately 10 quarts of volume.

Insulation ability – 2.5 star

Despite looking like a conventional cooler this product will not have nearly the ice life of most of these coolers since it is soft-sided and not airtight.  That being said, the inclusion of the insulated walls is significant enough to make items stay cold for several hours.  This makes this product very handy for lunches, picnics, or to temporarily store frozen grocery store items while you run additional errands.

Mobility and durability – 4 star

This cooler has a surprising amount of storage space given its side and the fact that it is not rigid means the walls are flexible and are easily accommodating for stored items.  However, the inclusion of the aluminum frame results in enough rigidity to make it much more robust than your typical soft-sided cooler and helps for it to keep its shape.

Overall, even with the metal frame and handles, it is still quite light so there should be no issue carrying it even when full.  The cool feature is the fact that this cooler can be collapsed to make it extremely easy to store.  The front storage pocket is helpful for those items you want to be able to access easily without opening up the cooled area.  Build quality is acceptable and this cooler should last for a while before it starts falling apart.

Visual Appeal –4 star

This product has rounded sides which set it apart from most coolers since they are typically square.  Furthermore, there are a lot of unique colors and patterns to choose from which is a nice touch to what would otherwise be a pretty plain outside.

Cost – 1.5 star

This product falls into the highest-price tier online.

Overall Rating – 3 star

The Picnic at Ascot Collapsible Basket Cooler Review earns 3 out of 5 coolers.  We like the approach that this product took in regards to how it cools and its unique style and features.  Also, it should last for quite some time before you have to worry about construction issues.  However, why is it so expensive?  It is still a nice product but expect to pay quite a bit for how much storage volume you are getting.
