Picnic at Ascot Cooler Tote Review

Last Updated by Brandon F. on July 17, 2020

This is our Picnic at Ascot Cooler Tote Review.  The Picnic at Ascot Cooler Tote is for those looking to store all of the perishable items for a short period but have had issues with fitting all of them in conventional cooler bags or lunch bags.  This tote is quite large and should be able to fit just about everything one would need for a lunch or picnic outing.

While not intended as a long-term solution, this product is insulated with Thermal Shield to maximize cooling life and also has a waterproof PEVA lining that helps to protect the inside contents.  The main compartment contains a zipper while there is also a front pocket for additional storage.  For carrying, there is a large shoulder strap.  This product comes in a wide variety of colors and patterns, stores approximately 29 quarts, and is made of fabric and plastic.

Insulation Ability – 2 star

While nothing stellar, this product should keep your items cool long enough to be viable for a typical lunch or picnic.  There is a decently thick layer of insulation and the fact that the storage area is relatively large means that it isn’t as easily affected by outside air exposure.  The zipper isn’t airtight, however, so cold air will escape through this over time.  You can expect a cooling life of around 4 hours with this.

Mobility and Durability – 3 star

This is a rather large tote and as such when full it can become quite bulky and heavy.  Despite the significant weight, the straps are strong enough to handle the load and are also large enough to comfortably fit around your shoulder.  The build quality is acceptable and the good external fabric coupled with the inner liner helps to keep the tote together when it runs into the occasional scrape or bump into something sharp.  It is convenient having the additional front pocket for those items you don’t’ wish to keep cool and that you want quicker access to.

Visual Appeal – 2.5 star

The tote itself is rather plain since there aren’t a lot of external features.  However, this product comes in a lot of fun and stylish patterns that set it out from most of its competition.  This is one of the few cooling items that we can call “stylish” and some people may even confuse it with a conventional purse!

Cost – 4 star

This tote typically falls into the budget price bracket online.

Overall Rating – 3 star

The Picnic at Ascot Cooler Tote Review earns 3 out of 5 coolers.  While the cool life is quite small, this product can store a lot of items that can make it useful in certain short-term scenarios.  Also, unlike many competitors, it can hold up to being full without potential tears or rips.  Also, the price is good enough to justify trying this one out.
