Picnic Time Turismo Cooler Review
This is our Picnic Time Turismo Cooler Review. The Picnic Time Turismo Cooler is a unique offering for anybody looking to have a mobile solution that can not only store their chilled items but can also carry their non-chilled items such as clothing, maps, passports, etc. Carrying this product is accomplished via non-slip padded straps as well as a padded handle grip. There are various compartments, including two separate insulated compartments as well as both external and concealed internal compartments for hiding valuables. In addition, there is a water bottle holster and included water bottle. This product is made of fabric, plastic, and metal, is available in 3 different colors, and has approximately 32 quarts of total storage space.
Insulation ability –
The two areas that are insulated have relatively thick insulation so they do an acceptable job of keeping the desired cool. Having the two areas instead of just one is a huge help as it would likely be difficult to fit all of your desired chilled items in just a single compartment. In addition, it helps you to categorize your items for easier identification and access. However, an important note is that the insulated areas are not waterproof, so any ice or ice packs that you put inside will result in water leaking out so plan accordingly.
Mobility and durability –
Being essentially a backpack with an additional carrying handle, this cooler is extremely mobile and convenient. With the array of pockets, both internal and external, as well as 2 individualized insulated compartments, this is a great package for someone traveling and needing to carry a variety of items. The fabric used is relatively strong polyester and it can withstand quite a bit of abuse without tearing. However, there are a couple of issues: The build quality on some of the components are a bit lackluster. The water bottle, while a nice touch, is of low quality and easily leaks. In addition, the Velcro used is very weak and comes undone quite easily (we would have preferred to see zippers here).
Visual Appeal –
This is a very nice-looking, professional cooler. It comes in three color options that all look great and the way that it is able to combine the many compartments, carrying handle/strap, and water bottle into a total package is impressive. And, despite the issues with build quality, it doesn’t show when looking at it.
This product is typically found in the intermediate price tier online.
Overall Rating –
The Picnic Time Turismo Cooler Review earns 3 out of 5 coolers. The cooling ability and features here are good enough to consider this item, but there are a couple of issues. It appears that some shortcuts might have been taken in the construction of components to drive the price down, which does result in the performance and product life some. And even with the shortcuts, it is still not a super cheap product. However, we like the included features and mobility.
