This is our Igloo Quick and Cool Cooler Review. The Igloo Quick and Cool Cooler is a budget offering from Igloo for those looking to be able to store a lot of items but not break the bank in doing so. It comes with a quick-access hatch that allows you to access the contents without opening the entire lid. Also, it has UV inhibitors, a stain and odor-resistant liner, a thread drain plug, and reinforced handles. It is available in 100-quart and 150-quart sizes (both in white) and the material of the walls is hard plastic.
Insulation Ability –
Unfortunately, these iceboxes struggle quite a bit with cooling. Despite Igloo’s claims that it will cool for up to 7 days, most people experience cooling ability closer to 3 to 4 days. It is simply not insulated enough to keep the ice frozen for a week. The lid is reasonably tight and the quick-access hatch helps in maximizing ice life, however. But the main driver to even seeing the 3 to 4 days is due to the overall size of the cooler. A cooler this large can store a lot of ice. And the sheer volume of ice is what will increase the performance.
Mobility and Durability –
These are rather large coolers that don’t have wheels, so it will be tough for one person to carry if it is full of items and ice. A big issue with this is that both the handles and the hinges are made of plastic and are rather weak and prone to breaking, especially under heavy loads. This is simply the price of admission if you want to save money on a large cooler. We recommend teaming up with someone if you plan on transporting this cooler, particularly if it is full. But even double-teaming the cooler, we found that the handles aren’t the best. There also aren’t many additional features to discuss.
Visual Appeal –
There isn’t a lot to look at with these products. Very straightforward design with few aesthetic additions and no cup holders or other common features. Also, the fact that higher-quality handles and hinges weren’t used bumps down the overall look some as well when compared to other larger coolers on the market. This is a simple, non-eye-catching cooler that you may prefer to keep hidden instead of showing off like some flashier coolers on the market.
Cost –
Online prices are easily into the budget category. This is a great price and among the most affordable products you will find on a dollar to quart basis. Sure, there are some sacrifices in terms of quality, ice retention, and features to achieve this price point. But the low cost does make it a little easier to overlook these issues. For people that simply need a lot of storage for a reasonable price, this cooler will be in the running.
Overall Rating –
The Igloo Quick and Cool Cooler Review earn 2.5 out of 5 coolers. The performance of this cooler has some issues. It struggles with keeping items cold past 4 days despite higher claims and the weak handles and hinges mean that you might not get as much life out of this icebox as you would hope for. However, it is extremely affordable for such a large cooler so if you plan on needing a larger cooler for a weekend trip and don’t anticipate moving it a lot this might be a good budget option.
